| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (storytelling with a deliberate mistake/trigger) |
Teacher says: “Listen to a short story about my grandfather. He was born in 1960 in a small village near Almaty. When he was 14, his favourite hobby was playing computer games and watching TikTok. But in winter he also loved to ride a horse and help his family with the harvest. … Wait — is everything correct?” Students spot the anachronism: in 1974 there were no computer games or TikTok. Teacher asks: “What mistake did you notice? How did hobbies differ in the past? Today we compare generations in our country.” |
Students listen, then raise hands to point out the mistake (computer games/TikTok in 1974). They give one or two guesses about real 1970s hobbies (horseback riding, folk crafts, reading). | Descriptors (no points): • identifies the anachronism; • relates to difference between generations. No points. | Whiteboard, marker (for quick notes). |
