### Lesson flow | Lesson stage / Time | Teacher actions (complete prompts and instructions) | Student actions | Assessment (criteria • descriptors • points) | Resources | |--------------------|--------------------------------------------------|------------------|------------------|---------| | **Lesson opening (5 min)** Engagement (method: What if…?) | Greets students. Asks the opening question: “What if your city hosted an international sports event and you had to design a stadium that shows the world what Kazakhstan is? What would you include?” Invites 3–4 quick ideas. | Students share initial ideas in whole-class discussion; each student gives one short answer. | Descriptors (no points): • participates in discussion • offers an idea connected to Kazakhstan • speaks in English. | Whiteboard, markers | | **Lesson middle (20-____________________ min)** New learning | 1) Introduction of vocabulary: stadium, capacity, pitch, dome, roof, arena, iconic, landmark, host city, infrastructure (5 min). 2) Task 1 — Listening (individual): Students listen to an audio about the Astana Arena and complete a true/false/not given table. 3) Task 2 — Reading (pair): Students read a text about the Astana Arena and find 2 inconsistencies. 4) Task 3 — Group project (4 groups of 3-4 students): Students create a mini-poster about a Kazakhstan stadium. 5) Tiered task (basic/core/advanced) on comparing stadiums. 6) Physical pause: “Stadium architect” — students stand up and draw in the air the shape of a stadium, the roof, the pitch, the stands; then 5 jumps “for the fans”. 7) AI-integrated task: Students use ChatGPT to generate an outline for their speech justifying their choice of the best stadium and then verify and edit the draft. | Students complete tasks as described. | | | 8.
