1. By the end of the lesson, students will explain and justify their own point of view on the topic “Amazing stadiums” by giving at least two reasons and one example from a text or an audio in 3–4 sentences (9.3.3.1).
2. Students will recognise at least two inconsistencies (unproven claims, contradictions, missing evidence) in an extended argumentative text about stadiums and explain in writing why each one is weak (9.4.9.1).
3. Students will understand most specific information in an unsupported extended talk about a stadium and record at least 4 out of 5 key details (name, country, capacity, feature, reason for fame) while listening once to the audio (9.2.2.1).

0–1 min. Greeting. “Good morning, everyone. Today we travel across cultures without leaving the classroom. Look at the screen — what do you see?” (Slide 1: Astana Arena, Camp Nou, Maracanã.) Expected answers: “Stadiums.”

1–3 min. “What if… every city in Kazakhstan had to build one amazing stadium that shows our country to the world? What would it look like, and what would make it ‘amazing’?” Give 30 seconds of thinking time, then take 4–5 quick answers. Possible student variants: “A stadium with a Kazakh ornament on the roof”, “A stadium in the steppe with solar panels”, “A stadium where dombra music plays before matches”, “A stadium shaped like a yurt”.

3–5 min. Write the topic on the board: Across cultures: Amazing stadiums. Say: “By the end of the lesson you will give your own opinion with reasons, find weak arguments in a text, and catch key facts in a fast talk about a stadium. Our value today is independence and patriotism — pride in what our country and other countries create.”

• Look at the slide and name what they see.
• Think individually for 30 seconds, then give one idea each about an “amazing” stadium for Kazakhstan.
• Listen to the lesson goals and the value statement; read the topic on the board.
