| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: mind map |
Step 1: “Good afternoon! Let's start with a quick mind map. On the board/slide write: ‘CLOTHES’. In 1 minute, write any words that come to mind – verbs, adjectives, actions. Ready? Go!” (timed). Step 2: After 1 minute, ask: “Now pick 3 words from your mind map that you can use with an –ing form. For example, ‘buying clothes’, ‘trying on’. Who wants to share?” Elicit responses. Discuss meaning and form of gerund after verbs. Step 3: “Excellent! Today we'll focus on verbs + –ing (gerund) and also use them in first conditional and relative clauses. You’ll work individually, in pairs and on a mini-project.” AI integration: use ChatGPT to generate 5 example sentences with –ing forms based on students' own words (show in real time). |
