| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Storytelling with a trigger) |
T: "Good morning! I want to tell you about my last holiday. I went to a very quiet island. To relax, I read a fantastic book. The main character was a pirate named Captain Silver. He was very kind and always shared his treasure with everyone. He hated adventures and never left his house. He was the perfect travel companion because he knew all the best restaurants on the island." T: "Did you notice anything strange in my story? Think for 30 seconds, then discuss with your partner for 1 minute." |
Students listen actively. They think individually, then turn to their partner (pair work, 8 pairs + 1 trio). They identify the contradiction: a pirate who hates adventures and never leaves his house cannot be on an island knowing restaurants. Possible responses: "A pirate should love adventure!", "He can't be a pirate if he stays at home." |
Provide a visual aid (slide) with the key contradictory sentences highlighted. Allow the student to point to the contradiction instead of verbalizing it if needed. | Descriptors: The student listens attentively. The student can identify the logical inconsistency in the story. (no points) | Projector/Screen, Slide with the story text and highlights. AI Tool: ChatGPT to generate similar "spot the mistake" stories with character contradictions for future use. |
