| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (provocative question) |
"Good morning class! Today I want to start with an important question: What if the weather in Kazakhstan suddenly became exactly the same everywhere - always hot, always sunny, no rain or snow ever again? Would this be fair to all people and regions? Think about farmers in the south, fishermen in the Caspian Sea, and people living in Astana. Turn to your partner and discuss for 2 minutes whether this would be fair and why."
After discussion: "Several of you mentioned this wouldn't be fair because different regions need different weather. This connects to our value today - fairness and responsibility. Just as we need to be fair to others, nature provides different weather conditions fairly across our country. Today we'll explore Kazakhstan's diverse weather while practicing our writing skills." |
Students discuss the provocative question in pairs, sharing opinions about fairness in weather distribution. They listen to the introduction and make connections between weather diversity and the concept of fairness.
Possible responses: "It wouldn't be fair because farmers need rain for crops," "Northern people are used to cold weather," "The desert needs to be hot for the ecosystem." |
