| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Provocative question & voting) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a quick question. How often do you think you use English outside this classroom? Is it always, sometimes, or never? I want you to vote. Show me one finger for 'never', two for 'sometimes', three for 'often', four for 'usually', five for 'always'." (Waits for responses). "Interesting! Let's see. [Student A] says sometimes, [Student B] says often. So, we all use English with different frequency. Today, we will learn the special words to describe how often things happen. They are called 'adverbs of frequency'. Let's look at our friends, the pink dolphins, to see how they use them." | Students listen to the question, think, and show their fingers to vote. They briefly explain their choice if asked (e.g., "I sometimes watch cartoons in English"). | Teacher uses clear gestures and holds up own fingers as a visual cue. Accepts one-word answers or allows pointing to a visual scale. | Descriptors: The student participates in the voting activity. The student attempts to answer the follow-up question. No points. |
Whiteboard/marker. Visual scale with adverbs and percentages (0% never – 100% always). |
