| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Mind Map & Discussion) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Our topic is 'Writing an opinion essay'. To start, I want you to think about the phrase 'Different Ways of Living'. You have 1 minute to create a mind map in your notebooks. Write the phrase in the center and jot down any words, ideas, or images that come to mind. Ready? Go!" (After 1 min) "Now, look at your map. I want you to choose the three most interesting or surprising ideas from it. Please, share one with the class. For example, if you wrote 'minimalism', what does that mean to you?"
Possible prompts: "Why is that idea interesting?" "Can you give a quick example?" |
Students quickly create an individual mind map. They then select three ideas. Volunteers share one idea with the class, explaining their choice briefly.
Possible responses: "I wrote 'digital nomad' – people who work online and travel." "I have 'tiny house' – living in a very small home." "My idea is 'communal living' – sharing everything with a group." |
