Greeting & Lead-in: "Good morning, class! Look at this picture of our planet Earth from space. What words come to your mind when you think about the environment on Earth?" Mind Map Activity (1 min): "You have 60 seconds. On your mini-whiteboards or notebooks, write down or draw all the words you associate with 'environment'. Ready? Go!" Discussion (3 min): After 1 minute: "Time's up! Let's share. [Calls on 3-4 students]. Aruzhan, what's one word from your list?" (Possible SR: "Trees.") "Good! Danial?" (SR: "Air.") "Excellent. Aliya?" (SR: "Garbage.") "Thank you. So we have positive things like trees and air, but also problems like garbage. Today, we will focus on these problems our planet faces." |
Students listen and look at the image. Students individually brainstorm and write/draw associations (e.g., nature, pollution, animals, water, plastic, clean, dirty). Selected students share their words. Others listen and compare with their own lists. |
