| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Meme discussion) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a picture. Look at the screen. What do you see?" (Shows a meme: A cat looking out of a window at a busy street with the caption: "Is there ANYBODY out there who has SOME peace and quiet? I need a place with NO noise!"). "Why is this meme about our lesson topic 'Our Neighbourhood'? Discuss with your elbow partner for 1 minute."
After discussion: "So, the cat is talking about its neighbourhood and uses words like 'anybody', 'some', 'no'. These are exactly the words we will master today!" |
Students look at the meme, laugh. They discuss in pairs (19 students = 9 pairs + 1 trio). They identify the key words (anybody, some, no) and connect them to the theme of neighbourhood and personal experience. Possible responses: "The cat is not happy with its neighbourhood", "It uses special words to ask a question and complain." |
