| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (What if...? question) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today, we are going on a safari to learn all about animals. Let's start with a 'What if...?' question. What if all the forests in the world suddenly disappeared? Where would the animals that live there go? Think for 30 seconds." (Teacher writes the question on the board). "Now, I need three volunteers to come to the board and write or draw one idea each. Who would like to share their imagination?"
Script: "Thank you, Aruzhan, for writing 'zoo'. That's one possibility. Daniyar suggests 'desert' – that would be a big change for a monkey! And Aliya drew a city park. Interesting ideas! So, animals need specific homes, which we call habitats. Today, we'll learn about these habitats and how we can protect them." |
Students listen and think about the question. 3 volunteers go to the board to write/draw their answers (e.g., "zoo", "another country", "city"). Other students observe and think of their own answers. They may ask clarifying questions like "What about birds?". |

Whiteboard/interactive panel, markers. AI Tool: An image generator (like DALL-E or Canva's AI) can be used to quickly visualize a "forestless world" based on student suggestions to make the scenario more tangible. |
