| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Storytelling) |
Teacher tells a short story: "Good morning, class. Yesterday, I needed to contact our school principal. I quickly wrote a message: 'Hey boss! Need a quick chat about the boring meeting later. Got a min? Thx!' I sent it and waited... and waited. He never replied! What went wrong?" Prompt: "Discuss with your elbow partner for one minute: Why didn't the principal reply? What was inappropriate in my message?" |
Students listen to the story. They turn to their elbow partner (pairs: 3 pairs + 1 trio if 7 students) and discuss the problem. They identify informal language ("Hey boss", "boring", "Got a min?", "Thx") as unsuitable for communicating with a principal. | Descriptors (no points): • Student actively participates in pair discussion. • Student identifies at least one example of inappropriate language from the story. |
