| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Provocative question & voting) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a quick vote. Imagine you are a film director. You have to adapt a famous novel. Which is more important: being 100% faithful to the book, or making changes to create a more exciting film? Show me thumbs up for 'faithful to the book', thumbs down for 'exciting film changes', or a flat hand for 'unsure'. (Pauses for voting). Now, in pairs, discuss your choice for 1 minute. Be ready to share one reason."
Possible student responses: "Faithful, because fans will be angry." / "Changes, because books and films are different." / "It depends on the story." Teacher: "Interesting perspectives! Today, we'll explore exactly this dilemma through the novel and film 'All at Sea'." |
Students vote individually. Then, they discuss their reasoning in pairs. Volunteers share their reasons with the class. | Descriptors: The student participates in voting and contributes at least one idea to the pair discussion. (no points) |
Whiteboard/Interactive board for tallying votes. |
