| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (What if...? question) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class. Today we are revising for your summative assessment. To start, I have a 'What if...?' question for you. What if you had to explain the most important grammar rule from Unit 12 to a student who was absent for the whole unit? Which rule would you choose and why? Think for 30 seconds, then share with your elbow partner." Teacher circulates, listens to conversations. After 2 minutes, asks 2-3 pairs to share their ideas with the whole class. Possible student responses: "I'd explain the second conditional because it's useful for dreams." "I'd explain present perfect vs. past simple because it's confusing." Teacher: "Excellent ideas. This shows you are already thinking about the key concepts. Today's revision will help you solidify these rules and vocabulary to be fully prepared and responsible for your own learning." |
Students listen to the question. They think individually, then discuss in pairs. They share their partner's or their own idea with the class. |
Descriptors: • The student actively participates in the pair discussion. • The student's suggestion is related to Unit 12 content. No points. |
