| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Riddle) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a riddle. I am inside your head, protected by bone. I weigh about 1.4 kilograms. I control everything you think, feel, and do. I have two halves that specialize in different tasks. What am I? Discuss your hypothesis with the person next to you for one minute."
After discussion: "Who thinks it's the brain? Correct! Today, we will explore its physical structure. Why do you think it's important to know how your brain is built?" Listens to 2-3 student ideas. |
Students listen to the riddle. In pairs (6 pairs total), they discuss and formulate a hypothesis. They volunteer answers and share initial ideas about the importance of studying brain structure. Possible responses: "It's the brain because it's in the skull." "To understand how we learn." "To know what happens if it gets injured." |
