  • Receptive Skill (Reading): 5.4.2.1 – understand with little or no support specific information and detail in short, simple texts on a limited range of general and curricular topics.
  • Productive Skill (Writing): 5.5.3.1 – write with support factual details at sentence level on a limited range of familiar general topics.
  • Use of English (Grammar): 5.6.14.1 – use prepositions to compound nouns and prepositions of direction, place and time on a limited range of familiar general and curricular topics.
Lesson goal
  1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify specific job titles and workplaces from a short descriptive text with 80% accuracy.
  2. Students will be able to write 3-5 simple sentences about a chosen profession, correctly using at least two prepositions of place/time (e.g., in, at, on) to describe where/when the job is performed.
  3. Students will collaboratively create a simple "Job Poster" project, presenting key factual details about a profession using vocabulary and grammatical structures from the lesson.

Lesson opening (5 min)
Engagement (Mind Map & Discussion)		 Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today's topic is 'What's your job?'. Let's start with a quick mind map. In 1 minute, write down or say any words you think of when you hear the word 'JOB'. Ready? Go!" (Monitors time). "Time's up. Who can share? (Calls on 3 students). Great! 'Doctor', 'teacher', 'office'. Let's discuss: Where does a doctor work? What does a teacher do? Is an office a job or a place? This will help us today." Students quickly brainstorm associations (e.g., work, money, doctor, school, uniform, computer). Three selected students share their words. The whole class briefly discusses the teacher's questions, offering simple answers. Descriptors:
  • Contributes at least one relevant word to the mind map.
  • Participates in the short discussion by listening or responding.
No points. 		Whiteboard/markers or digital board. Timer. AI Tool: Miro or MindMeister for a collaborative, real-time digital mind map. The teacher can project it, and students can contribute from their devices, visualizing connections between jobs and related vocabulary.
