| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Provocative question & voting) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! I have a question for you. Look at these two pictures. [Shows picture of a simple bicycle and a high-tech racing bike]. Which sport is MORE exciting: cycling or e-sports/gaming? Show me thumbs up for cycling, thumbs down for e-sports. Ready? Vote now!" After a quick count: "Interesting! [Name], you voted for cycling. Why?" "And [Name], you chose e-sports. Can you tell us why?" Debrief: "Thank you! You used words like 'fast', 'fun', 'difficult', 'boring'. These describing words are called adjectives. Today, we will learn more adjectives, especially for sports, and learn how to point to things correctly using 'this, that, these, those'." |
Students vote visually with thumbs up/down. Selected students verbally justify their choice using simple adjectives or phrases. All students listen actively. | Provide the two pictures as large, clear visuals. Allow SEN student to point to their choice instead of a thumb vote if needed. Pre-teach key words "exciting", "boring". | Descriptors: Student participates in voting. Student attempts to give a reason for their choice using at least one word (e.g., fun, good). No points. |
Projector/Screen. Two contrasting images: 1) Cyclist in race, 2) E-sports competition. AI Tool: Generated images from DALL-E or Midjourney to create clear, engaging, and culturally relevant visuals for the voting prompt. |
