| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Mind map & discussion) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today's topic is about practical English in a real-world context. I want you to think about the word 'Community Project'. On your mini-whiteboards or in your notebooks, you have 1 minute to create a mind map. Write down all the words, ideas, or feelings you associate with it. Ready? Go!" (Monitors time). "Time's up. Look at your mind map. Now, choose the three most interesting or important ideas from it. In pairs, discuss: Why did you choose these three? Be ready to share one idea with the class." (Walks around, listens to discussions). "Okay, let's hear a few. Aizhan, what's one of your key words?" (Listens and acknowledges responses, e.g., "Helping," "Teamwork," "Bees?" – if a student mentions bees, link it: "Interesting! Bees are a great example of a community.") |
Students individually create a mind map with associations for "Community Project". They then work in pairs, discussing their three selected ideas and explaining their choices. Selected students share one idea with the whole class. |
Descriptors (no points):
