Lesson goal
  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and explain the use of Present Perfect with 'since' and 'for' by completing at least 3 structured grammar tasks with 80% accuracy.
  • Students will demonstrate comprehension of an extended listening and reading text on the topic of phobias and technology by extracting key arguments and details, and summarizing them in a short written paragraph.
  • Students will collaboratively create and present a creative project (a new "fearof.net" page) that synthesizes learned vocabulary and grammar, demonstrating innovative thinking and clear organization of information.

Engagement (Riddle)		 Teacher: "Good morning, class. I have a riddle for you. Listen carefully: 'I am a website that collects things many people are afraid of. I have a strange name that sounds like a place on the internet, but I'm not a typical website. What am I?' Take 1 minute to discuss with your partner and make a hypothesis."

After discussion: "So, what do you think? Yes, it's a website called 'Fearof.net'. Today we will explore this unique site, talk about phobias, and learn how to talk about experiences and durations in our lives." 		Students listen to the riddle. In pairs, they discuss possible answers (e.g., "A blog about fears?", "A phobia database?"). They share their hypotheses with the class: "We think it's a website listing phobias." Descriptors:
  • Student actively participates in the pair discussion.
  • Student proposes a logical hypothesis related to the topic.
No points. 		Whiteboard/Projector for displaying the riddle. AI Tool: ChatGPT to generate alternative riddles or clues on the fly if students need an extra hint.
