Teacher: "Good morning! Today's topic is 'Invitations'. Let's start with a 1-minute mind map. On your mini-whiteboards, write down all words or phrases you associate with 'invitation'. Ready? Go!" (Times 60 seconds). "Time's up. Now, look at your board. I will ask three of you to share one interesting word from your map and explain why you chose it. Aruzhan, what's one word?" Possible student response: "Party." Teacher: "Good! Why 'party'?" (Student: "Because invitations are for parties.") "Thank you. Dias, your word?" (Student: "Message.") "Excellent. And Aigerim?" (Student: "Friend.") "Perfect. So, we invite friends by sending messages to parties or events. Today we focus on email invitations to friends." |
Students individually create a mind map on mini-whiteboards or paper. Three selected students share and explain one association each. Others listen actively. | Descriptors: The student generates at least 3 relevant associations. The student can verbally explain one chosen association. No points. |
Mini-whiteboards/markers, or paper/pens. Timer. AI Tool: Miro or MindMeister (displayed on IWB) for a collaborative digital mind map to capture all ideas visually and engage kinesthetic learners. |
