| Lesson opening (5 min) Engage (Storytelling with deliberate mistake) |
Teacher says: "Listen to a short story about the 1990s. I will make one factual mistake. Your job is to spot it and raise your hand." Story: "The 1990s were a time of big change. People used floppy disks, watched movies on VHS, and listened to music on portable CD players. The first iPhone was launched in 1998 and changed communication forever." (Mistake: iPhone launched in 2007, not 1998.) After spotting the mistake, ask: "Why is it important to check facts when describing a decade?" Expected answer: "To be accurate / because the author's opinion might be based on wrong facts." Transition: "Today we will read about a decade and learn to recognise the author's point of view." |
