| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement – riddle/brain-teaser |
Teacher: “Good morning, everyone! Let’s start with a riddle. Listen: ‘I can be fast, faster, fastest; I can be good, better, best. I describe actions and I compare them. What am I?’ (Pause 10 sec). Write your guess on a slip of paper. Then in pairs (shoulder partner) share your idea. I’ll collect three hypotheses.” Teacher writes on board: adjective? adverb? both? After 2 min asks 2–3 students: “What do you think? Why?” Expected answer: “Adverb (or comparative adverb) / It’s about comparing how things are done.” Teacher confirms: “Today we compare adjectives AND adverbs. Riddle shows we use both for comparison.” |
