| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement ("What if...?") |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! Let's start with a quick 'What if...?' question. What if there were absolutely no rules at our school for one day? No bells, no uniform policy, no classroom expectations. What do you think would happen? Think for 30 seconds, then share your ideas with your elbow partner." After 2 minutes of pair discussion: "Okay, let's hear some variants. Aizhan, what did you and your partner discuss?" Possible Student Responses: "It would be chaotic." / "People might be late for lessons." / "Some students might not feel safe." / "It could be fun but messy." Teacher: "Interesting ideas! So, rules help create order and safety. Today, we'll talk about school rules and our responsibilities, and we'll use English to discuss and even 'negotiate' them, just like in a real-life situation." |
Students listen to the "What if...?" scenario. They think individually, then discuss their predictions with a partner. Volunteers share their pair's ideas with the whole class. | Descriptors: The student participates in the discussion, shares or listens to a plausible consequence of having no rules. Note: No points. |
