| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Riddle) |
Teacher: "Good morning! I have a riddle for you. It's a place where stories come to life, but you don't turn pages. People gathered here for decades, but now you can find its magic in your pocket. What was it then, and what is it now? Think for 30 seconds, then share your hypothesis with your elbow partner." After pair discussion, teacher asks 2-3 pairs to share. Teacher then links answers to the topic: "Excellent ideas! You've touched on the evolution of cinema and entertainment. Today, we will read a text that explores exactly this: 'Then versus now: going to the cinema'. Let's see how accurate your predictions were!" | Students listen to the riddle. They think individually, then discuss their hypotheses in pairs (25 students = 12 pairs, one student works with teacher if odd number). Students volunteer to share their pair's idea with the class. | Descriptors: The student participates in pair discussion; formulates a logical hypothesis related to the riddle. (no points) | Whiteboard/Projector for riddle. Timer. AI Tool: ChatGPT can be used to generate alternative riddles on the topic for differentiation. |
