| Lesson beginning (5 min) Lead-in (Case Study) |
Teacher shows a headline on the board/screen: "Teen's Lost Journal Found After 10 Years, Returned by Stranger". "Good morning, class! Look at this headline. I have a real-life case for you. Imagine you are the person who found this old journal in a park. You open it and see it's full of stories and drawings from someone's childhood. What would you do? More importantly, based on the first sentence you might read, what do you think the main story in that journal could be about? Discuss with your neighbor for one minute and make a prediction." After 1 minute: "Okay, who wants to share their prediction? What kind of past events might be in that journal?" Takes 2-3 answers. "Great ideas! Today, we will be like those people finding a story. We will read an unfamiliar text, find its main points, and then do some creative writing about past experiences ourselves." AI Tools Integration: Use an AI text generator (like ChatGPT) to create varied, engaging headlines or short story hooks based on keywords like "lost diary", "found memory", "unexpected discovery" to instantly provide multiple prompts for discussion and prediction. |
Learners read the headline, discuss in pairs, and make oral predictions about the journal's content. They share ideas with the class. | Descriptors (no score): • The learner participates in the discussion. • The learner makes a logical prediction connected to the headline. • The learner uses English to express an idea. |
• Projector/Whiteboard. • Slide with headline. • AI Text Generator (e.g., ChatGPT) for prompt variation. |
