Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a simple 'What if...?' question. What if you woke up tomorrow and you were the principal of our school? What would you do? How would you feel? Share your ideas with your partner for 2 minutes." After pair work, teacher asks 2-3 students to share: "So, what did your partner say? For example, 'He said he would cancel all tests...' Notice how we use 'would' and 'were' to talk about these unreal, imaginary situations. Today, we are learning a specific structure to make such comparisons: 'as if' and 'as though'. Our question for today is: What if we could describe reality as if it were different?" |
