Teacher: "Look at the screen. I’ll show you a riddle: ‘I always happen, but you never see me coming. I am around you every second, but you only notice me when I change. I can be fast, slow, constant or temporary. What am I?’ (Answer: time / change / a scientific phenomenon). Let students guess. Then: 'Today we talk about time in grammar – Present Simple, Continuous and habits. And we connect it to the Constitution of Kazakhstan.'" Write three sentences on board: 1. Water boils at 100°C. (Present Simple – general truth) 2. The scientist is examining a sample right now. (Present Continuous – temporary) 3. The Parliament usually meets twice a year. (present habit) – ask: "Which sentence talks about a habit?" |
Students listen, hypothesise, raise hands, answer the riddle. They discuss in pairs for 30 sec then share ideas. They comment on the three sentences – identify which is a habit, which is a general truth, which is happening now. | Descriptors (no points): • participates in guessing the riddle • contributes at least one hypothesis • distinguishes at least 2 of 3 grammar forms intuitively |
