1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to express and evaluate their own and others’ opinions about a shark attack survivor’s story, using at least 5 topic-related vocabulary items (survivor, attack, responsible, fair, blame, courage, etc.).
2. Students will be able to read and analyse a real-life narrative text and a statistical chart about shark attacks, completing functional literacy (PISA-type) tasks at their chosen level (basic / core / advanced).
3. Students will be able to demonstrate fairness and responsibility by evaluating the actions of the survivor, the media and the public in a written consolidation task.

Teacher script: “Good morning, Grade 10! Look at the screen. Read the meme silently. So — why do I start our lesson with a shark meme? Turn to your partner and discuss: what do you see, and what do you think today’s lesson is about? You have 30 seconds.”
