Lesson goal
  1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to correctly form and use the Present Continuous tense (affirmative, negative, interrogative) to describe actions happening now or planned for the near future in the context of travel and holidays, as evidenced by completing structured sentence tasks.
  2. Students will demonstrate the ability to collaborate in pairs and small groups, applying the target grammar and vocabulary to create and present a short, fair travel plan, showing responsibility in task distribution and honesty in peer assessment.
  3. Students will apply the grammar rule to a real-life scenario, analyzing a short text about a holiday and identifying all instances of the Present Continuous, explaining their function (present or future meaning).

Engagement (Real-life case hook)		 Teacher: "Good morning, class! I want to show you a live webcam from Heathrow Airport in London. Look at the screen. What can you see? Let's describe it together. I see many people. What are they doing?"
Possible prompts: "Look at that family with the big suitcases. What do you think they are doing? Are they waiting? Are they running? Where are they going? Predict: What holiday might they be planning?"
Script: "So, we are describing actions happening right now. This is our topic today. Can anyone guess the name of the tense we use for actions happening now or around now?" 		Students observe the live feed. They respond to teacher's questions with short phrases (e.g., "They are waiting." "A man is running." "They are going on holiday."). Students predict the family's destination. A student may guess "Present Continuous". Descriptors:
  • The student observes the visual prompt attentively.
  • The student attempts to describe ongoing actions using verbs.
  • The student makes a logical prediction about the situation.
No points. 		Interactive whiteboard or projector, stable internet connection. Live airport webcam stream (e.g., from YouTube or airport website).
AI Tool: A live translation/subtitle tool (e.g., Google Translate live transcription) displayed alongside the feed to support vocabulary for EAL learners if needed.
