| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Real-life case hook) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Imagine you have a friend from London visiting Kazakhstan next month. You want to show them the best of our country. But there's a problem: their flight arrives at 08:00, and the train to Shymkent for a famous festival departs at 14:30. The festival starts at 18:00. Can they make it? Think about airport procedures, travel time, etc. Discuss with your partner for 2 minutes: What is their schedule? What are they doing at specific times? I want to hear your predictions."
After pair discussion: "Aruzhan, what did you and your partner decide? Can they make the train?" (Listens, then highlights key sentences: "The flight arrives at 08:00." / "They are taking the train at 14:30.") "Great! Today we'll learn the grammar behind these future plans: Present Simple for fixed schedules and Present Continuous for personal arrangements." |
Students listen to the scenario. In pairs (7 pairs, 1 group of 3), they discuss logistics and predict if the friend can make the train. They formulate sentences about the schedule using language they know. Volunteers share their group's prediction and reasoning with the class. |
