| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement – mind map |
Teacher: “Good morning, everyone! Let's start with a quick mind map. On your handout (or slide) you see the word ‘PASSIVE’. In 1 minute, write down any words, tenses, or phrases you associate with passive voice. Work individually.” After 1 min: “Now share with your partner (pair – 2 students next to each other). Pick 3 associations from your mind map that you think are most important. We'll discuss as a class.” Teacher elicits 2–3 pairs’ ideas, writes on board: e.g. “by + agent”, “is done”, “was invented”, “will be shown”. Integration prompt: “Remember, when we talk about Kazakhstan’s inventions, we often use passive. For instance, ‘The rocket was designed by Kazakh engineers.’ Keep that in mind!” |
