• Goal 1 (speaking): Students will be able to explain and justify their own opinion about alternative therapy (e.g., acupuncture, yoga, herbal medicine) in a pair discussion, using 2–3 supporting reasons.
• Goal 2 (reading): Students will extract specific information from a longer text (300–350 words) about alternative therapy and complete a comprehension task with at least 4 out of 6 correct answers.
• Goal 3 (writing): Students will produce a short paragraph (50–70 words) expressing a balanced view on alternative therapy, using appropriate linking words and grammatically correct sentences.

Teacher says: “Good morning! Look at the screen – here is a short news headline: ‘In Japan, doctors prescribe forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) as official therapy. Patients walk in cedar forests to reduce stress.’ Do you think walking in a forest can really treat illness? Turn to your partner and share one prediction: will alternative therapies like this become common in Kazakhstan? I’ll give you 1 minute to talk.”

(Teacher monitors, nods, elicits 2–3 predictions.)

Transition: “Today we explore alternative therapy – methods outside conventional medicine. You will read, discuss, and write your own opinion. Let’s begin!”
