| Lesson opening (5 min) Engage |
Meme/Image engagement: Show a funny meme: a person doing yoga with a cat, caption “When your doctor says ‘try alternative therapy’ but the cat disagrees”. Teacher: “Look at this picture. Why is it about us? In 30 seconds, turn to your neighbour and share one idea.” Teacher elicits: “What alternative therapies do you know? Yoga? Acupuncture? Cold swimming?” Connect to topic: “Today we talk about therapies that are possible, certain or impossible. We’ll use special words – modals.” |
• Observe the meme, smile/comment. • Pair-share (neighbour) why the meme relates to health/exercise. • Volunteer 1–2 ideas: “Yoga is funny but helps flexibility”, “Maybe the cat thinks it’s weird”. • Activate prior knowledge. |
Descriptors (no points): - Participates in pair discussion. - Names at least one alternative therapy. - Shows interest and readiness. |
• Projector / slide with meme (funny yoga cat). • Whiteboard for key words. |
