| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (“What if…?”) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a 'What if...?' question. What if you heard someone say, 'You're from Astana,...?' How would you naturally finish that sentence to check if it's true? Think for 30 seconds, then share with your desk partner." (Listens to pairs). "I heard 'aren't you?' Great! That's called a question tag. Today's topic is 'Question Tags'. Our goals are on the board: to form them correctly and use the right voice tone." | Students think individually, then discuss with their desk partner (25 students = 12 pairs + 1 group of 3 if odd). They propose endings like "aren't you?", "right?", "isn't it?". | Teacher provides the starter sentence written on a card. For students who struggle to initiate, the teacher can offer a choice: "aren't you? / right? / yes?" | Descriptors: The student participates in the discussion, proposes at least one ending for the "What if..." prompt. No points. |
