| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Provocative question & voting) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a quick question. Imagine two students: Alik and Dana. Alik plays video games for 5 hours every day but eats vegetables. Dana sleeps 9 hours but never drinks water. Who is healthier? Show me thumbs up for Alik, thumbs down for Dana. You have 10 seconds to decide... Now, discuss your choice with your partner for 1 minute. Why did you vote that way?" After pair discussion: "Interesting! We see it's not always black and white. This leads us to our topic today: Healthy and Unhealthy Habits. Our goal is to work together to understand these habits better." |
Students vote individually. Then, in pre-assigned pairs (7 pairs total), they discuss their reasoning (e.g., "I chose Dana because sleep is very important, but you're right, water is also crucial"). | Teacher provides the question visually on the board/slide. For a student with attention difficulties, the teacher gives a direct, simplified prompt: "Look at the two pictures (icons of sleep/games/water/veg). Which one has more good things?" | Descriptors:

Projector/Whiteboard. Slide with the question and two simple icons (game controller & bed, water bottle & broccoli). Timer. |
