| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Riddle) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! I have a riddle for you. Listen carefully: 'I have no doors, but I have keys. I have no rooms, but I have space. You can enter, but you can't go back. What am I?' (Pause for 10 seconds). Let's hear your ideas. Don't be shy!" Possible student answers: "A computer?", "A book?", "A piano?" Teacher: "Interesting guesses! The answer is... 'The Past' or 'History'. Today, we are not just talking about the past. We are going to travel through it with a... Time Machine! What do you think? If you had a time machine, where would you go first and why? Think for 30 seconds, then tell your partner." (Teacher pairs students quickly: 5 pairs + 1 group of 3 if 11 students). |
Students listen to the riddle and propose hypotheses. They then engage in pair talk, sharing their ideas about time travel. Each student speaks for about 30 seconds. |
Descriptors: Student participates in solving the riddle. Student shares a personal idea with a partner using simple sentences (e.g., "I would go to... because..."). No points. |
