| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Storytelling with a trigger) |
Teacher: "Good morning, class! I want to tell you a short story about my visit to a famous market. Listen carefully. Last weekend, I went to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. It was very quiet and empty. I bought a beautiful hand-woven carpet, some fresh digital apples, and a spicy clock. The sellers were very rude and unfriendly. I paid with my credit card, which is a small metal coin. I left feeling bored."
"What? You look confused! Was everything in my story correct? Work with your partner for 1 minute and find one thing that sounds strange or wrong." After pair discussion, ask for answers. Confirm the "triggers": markets are busy (not quiet), "digital apples" and "spicy clock" are illogical compound nouns, sellers are usually friendly, a credit card is not a coin. |
Listen attentively. Discuss in pairs (8 pairs, 1 student works with teacher). Identify illogical elements in the story. Share findings with the class. Possible responses: "Markets are noisy!", "Apples aren't digital!", "A clock isn't spicy!", "Credit card is plastic, not a coin." | Pre-assigned supportive partner. Teacher provides a printed version of the story with key illogical phrases highlighted in color. | Descriptors: The student actively listens and participates in pair discussion. Identifies at least one deliberate mistake in the story. No points. |
