| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (provocative question) |
"Good morning class! I want you to close your eyes and imagine something. What if you woke up tomorrow and all cities disappeared - only countryside remained? How would your life change? What sounds would you hear? What would you see? Turn to your partner and share one thing that would be different. I'll give you 2 minutes." After 2 minutes: "Okay, let's hear some ideas. Aruzhan, what did you and your partner discuss?" Expected student responses: "We would hear birds instead of cars," "We would see fields instead of buildings," "We would have to grow our own food." |
Students close eyes and visualize the scenario, then discuss in pairs (6 pairs + 1 group of 3). Each student shares at least one idea with their partner. | Observation checklist: All students participate in pair discussion, share at least one relevant idea | Timer, whiteboard, markers, ChatGPT-generated countryside soundscape description for teacher reference |
