Lesson goal
  1. Students will be able to deduce the meaning of 4–5 chore-related phrases from contextual listening and use them in speech.
  2. Students will give a short opinion (2–3 sentences) about fairness in sharing housework, using target vocabulary.
  3. Students will write 4–5 sentences describing their own housework responsibilities, expressing feelings and opinion.

Lesson opening (5 min)
Engagement (method: Storytelling with a deliberate mistake)

Teacher says: “Listen carefully to my short story. I will describe a typical Saturday morning in my house. Try to spot the mistake – something that is NOT fair or responsible.”

Story script:
“Saturday morning. Dad is cooking breakfast. Mum is washing the dishes. My brother is playing video games. I am sweeping the floor. My sister is making her bed. Suddenly my brother says: ‘I never do housework because I am the youngest.’ Mum smiles and says: ‘That’s fair.’”

Teacher asks: “What is wrong? Why is it not fair? What should a responsible brother do?”

Accept 2-3 answers. Guide: “Fairness means everyone helps. Responsibility means doing your share.”

Transition: “Today we will talk about helping with housework and how to be fair and responsible.”
  • Listen to the story.
  • Identify the mistake (brother doesn’t help / mum says it’s fair).
  • Share opinion: “It’s not fair because he should help.” / “He is not responsible.”

Assessment (descriptors only, no points):
• Identifies the unfair situation (brother not helping).
• Expresses a relevant opinion about fairness/responsibility.
• Uses at least one value-related word (fair, responsible, help).

Whiteboard / projector; prepared story text (optional).
