| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (method: Storytelling with a deliberate mistake) |
Teacher: "Listen to my short story about my weekend. I'll tell you about a hobby – but I will make ONE mistake. Your job is to spot it!" Story: "On Saturday I tried a new hobby – cloud watching. I lay on the grass and looked up. I saw a cloud shaped like a dragon, then a castle, and then a giant ice-cream. But the weather was rainy all day, so I used an umbrella. The mistake is that I saw shapes in the clouds while it was raining – you can't see clouds clearly in heavy rain! Also, I said I used an umbrella, but if it's rainy, you usually can't lie on the grass." Teacher: "Turn to your partner: what was my mistake? (30 sec) … Who can share?" Expected student response: "It was raining, so you couldn't see cloud shapes." / "You can't lie on wet grass." Teacher: "Great! Today we will read about real unusual hobbies and write about your own hobby." |
- Listen actively. - Identify the deliberate mistake (weather contradiction). - Discuss with partner. - Share with class. |
Descriptors (no points): • Listens attentively. • Spots the mistake or logical gap. • Participates in pair discussion. |
- Teacher’s story script. - Whiteboard for key words. - AI tool: Use ChatGPT (or similar) to generate alternative story with a different mistake (optional differentiation). |
