Engagement (Storytelling with a mistake)
Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today, we are going on an adventure to one of our planet's most amazing treasures. I want to tell you a short story. Listen carefully and see if you can spot something that doesn't sound quite right. 'Last weekend, I visited a beautiful forest under the sea. It was very cold and dark, and I saw tall, green trees made of rock. Monkeys were jumping from branch to branch, and I even saw a polar bear swimming by!' ... So, what did you hear that seemed strange or wrong?"

Expected student responses: "Forests aren't under the sea!", "It's not cold and dark, it's warm and colorful!", "There are no trees of rock or monkeys in the sea!", "Polar bears live in the Arctic!"

Teacher: "Excellent spotting! You're right. I was describing a coral reef, but I mixed it up with a forest and the Arctic! Coral reefs are like underwater cities, full of color and life. They are our planet's jewel. Today, we will learn how to understand texts about them and how we can be responsible for protecting such treasures."
Students listen attentively to the story. They raise hands to identify the deliberate mistakes. They engage in a brief discussion about what a coral reef might really be like. Oral formative assessment: Teacher observes student participation and the accuracy of identified mistakes.
  • AI Tool: An image generator (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E) used to create a surreal, incorrect image of an "underwater forest with monkeys" to project as the story is told, providing a strong visual trigger.
  • Projector/Screen.
  • Speaker for potential reef soundscape.
