| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: mind map |
1-minute mind map: “Think of words about ‘home and away’. Draw or write as many as you can in 60 seconds – rooms, furniture, places outside.” (Teacher shows example: kitchen, bed, park, garden, car). Then pick 3 associations to discuss: “Who wants to share one word? … Great! Why did you choose ‘garden’? Do you play there?” Teacher scaffolds: “Is the cat in the garden or under the tree?” Teacher script: “Let’s see how many home words you know! Ready? Go! … Stop! Now tell your partner one word. Then I’ll ask three friends to share with the class.” |
|
Descriptors (no points): • contributes at least one word to mind map • shares a word with a partner • responds to one question (verbal or gesture) |
Board, markers, slide with ‘home’ clipart, timer (1 min). |
