| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Provocative question & voting) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a quick poll. I want you to think: Is fear mostly helpful or harmful for a person's life? Don't say it out loud. I'll show two sides of the board: 'Helpful' and 'Harmful.' When I say 'go,' come and place a sticky note under your choice. Ready? Go!" (Monitors the activity). After voting: "Interesting! I see more notes on 'Harmful.' [Name], why did you choose 'Helpful'?" Listens, then: "And you, [Name], for 'Harmful'?" Summarizes: "So, fear can be a warning signal, but it can also limit us. Today, we'll talk about our personal fears and learn to describe them precisely using new grammar." | Students listen to the question, reflect, and move to place their sticky note on the board. Volunteers briefly explain their choice. All students listen to the debrief. | Provide pre-written choice cards ("Helpful"/"Harmful") for students to hold up if movement is challenging. Teacher can verbally repeat the question and choices clearly. |
Descriptors only (no points): • The student participates in the voting activity. • The student can give a simple reason for their choice. |
Whiteboard, markers, two colors of sticky notes, pre-written choice cards for SEN. |
