| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: “What if…?” |
Teacher says: “What if tomorrow you had the chance to move permanently to the United States? Would you go? Why or why not? Think about your life, your family, your future.” Write the question on the board. Give 30 seconds silent think time. Then invite 3–4 students to share one idea. Encourage use of infinitive/‑ing (e.g. “I would consider moving because…”, “I can’t imagine leaving…”). Possible student variants: “I would go to study”, “I would miss my culture”, “I’m afraid of starting from zero”. Link to values: “Being independent doesn’t mean forgetting your roots. Patriotism means you carry Kazakhstan with you wherever you go.” |
All 7 students engaged: first silent thinking, then 3–4 speakers, others give thumbs up/down or add short reaction. |
