| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: Storytelling with deliberate mistake |
Teacher script: “Good morning, Grade 9! Let me tell you a short story. Yesterday I saw a spider in my kitchen. I felt a little nervous, but my friend said she has arachnophobia — fear of spiders. She even screams when she sees a picture of a spider. Then my brother told me he has claustrophobia — fear of high places. He never goes to the top of a building. But I think he is wrong: claustrophobia is the fear of small spaces, not heights. So what is the mistake? Who can spot it?” Expected student response: “Claustrophobia is fear of small spaces, not high places.” Teacher confirms and corrects: “Exactly! Claustrophobia is fear of confined spaces.” Follow-up: “Today we will talk about phobias — what they are, how we describe them, and how people can deal with them.” |
