| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (“What if…?”) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a 'What if...?' question. What if there were no rules for staying healthy at school? No rules about washing hands before lunch, no rules about not sharing drinks, no rules about what time to have a break? What could happen? Think for 30 seconds, then share your ideas." Listens to all answers, writes key phrases (e.g., "spread germs", "feel tired", "get sick") on the board. "Great ideas. So, rules and good habits keep us safe and healthy, just like laws keep order in society. Today we'll work on language about health and habits, and think about why following rules is important." | Students think individually. They raise hands to share their predictions (e.g., "Everyone would be ill", "The classroom would be dirty", "Lessons would be chaotic"). They listen to peers and the teacher's introduction. | Provide the "What if..." question in written form on a card. Use visual prompts (pictures of a dirty hand, a tired student). Allow non-verbal responses (thumbs up/down for agree/disagree with peers' ideas). | Descriptors only (no points): • The student attempts to answer the "What if" question. • The student's answer relates to health or consequences. • The student listens to others. |
