1. Goal 1 (reading): By the end of the lesson, 5 out of 5 students will identify at least 3 specific facts (name, age, favourite subject) from a short email without teacher’s help.
2. Goal 2 (writing): With teacher’s support, each student will write a 4–5 sentence email about their class and interests, using ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘or’ and key phrases (My name’s …, I’m into …).
3. Goal 3 (value integration): Students will demonstrate the ability to finish what they started and organise their work (diligence) by completing a tiered writing task with quality.

1. Greeting & challenge (1 min): “Good morning, class! Today we will write an email about our class. First, a quick challenge: think of the word ‘EMAIL’. What comes to your mind? Write 4–5 words in your notebook.”

2. Mind map associations (1 min): “Now draw a small mind map around ‘email’. Use words like ‘friend’, ‘computer’, ‘message’, ‘class’.” Teacher circulates, checks participation.

3. Pick 3 to discuss (3 min): Teacher selects three words from the board (e.g. ‘friend’, ‘sport’, ‘teacher’). Ask: “Why did you write ‘friend’? How is email connected to your class?” Elicit 2–3 answers.

Value seed: “Diligence means finishing tasks well – today we will finish our email together.”

• Each student draws a mind map with at least 4 associations.
• Students raise hands, share their words and explain briefly.
• Listen to peers and add new ideas.

• Active participation in mind map.
• Shares at least one association.
• Shows initial interest.
