1. Greet class briefly. "Good morning! Today we will talk about celebrations. First warm-up." 2. Pose a "What if...?" question: "What if your school had a special day where everyone could choose one activity — what would you choose and why?" 3. Ask for quick individual ideas (20 seconds thinking). Then ask students to share one idea with the person next to them (pair) for 1 minute. Teacher monitors and notes 2–3 interesting responses to share with class. 4. Call 3 volunteers to share short answers (1 sentence each). Provide sentence starter if needed: "I would choose... because..." Teacher script (sample): "What if our school had a special day and you could choose only one activity — what would you choose and why? Think for 20 seconds. Now tell your partner." After pairs: "Who would like to tell us? Use: 'I would choose ____ because ____.'" |
- Individually: think for 20 seconds (13 students). - Pair-share: 6 pairs + 1 student pairs with teacher (see adaptation below) — speak for about 30–40 seconds. - 3 volunteers speak to whole class, 1–2 short sentences each. Possible student responses: "I would choose games because I like playing with friends." / "I would choose art because I love drawing." |
