| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: riddle + hypotheses |
Teacher: "Listen to my riddle: I have walls and a roof, but no door. I have a slide and a swing. Children come here after school. What place am I?" (Pause for guesses). "Today we will explore Places in My Neighbourhood. Look at the picture on the screen — what places do you see? Make a hypothesis: which place is the most important for your family?" Show slide with 6 mixed images (library, park, hospital, school, supermarket, fire station). Elicit ideas: "Tell your partner your guess." |
Students think, raise hands: "a park!", "playground". In pairs (9 students = 4 pairs + 1 trio) share one hypothesis: "The most important place is … because …" 2–3 students share with class. |
Descriptor (no points): • Actively participates in guessing. • Makes a reasonable hypothesis about the most important place. |
