| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Storytelling with a mistake) |
Teacher: "Good morning, explorers! Today we are going on a word trip. First, listen to my short story about my dream trip. But be careful! There is one silly mistake about where things are. Can you find it? 'Yesterday, I visited a beautiful island. The island was between the river and the mountain. I had a picnic next to a big forest. The forest was opposite my tent.'" (Write the three key prepositions on the board). "So, what was wrong? Where was the island?" (Expected: The island cannot be BETWEEN a river and a mountain; an island is in water). Praise students for spotting the trigger. | Students listen attentively. They raise hands to identify the deliberate mistake in the story. They repeat the prepositions after the teacher. | Provide a visual storyboard with the four new nouns (river, island, forest, mountain) as pictures. Highlight the three prepositions on the board with symbols (e.g., ↔ for opposite, | | for between, → for next to). | Descriptors: The student listens attentively. The student attempts to identify the illogical part of the story. (no points) |
Whiteboard/markers, printed or digital storyboard with 4 key noun images. |
